American Motor Inn - Rock Island, hotel in Rock Island

Located 8 minutes’ drive south of the Rock Island city center, this motel features free Wi-Fi throughout the property. Each guest room is equipped with a flat-screen cable TV.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and that's about 90% of what I look for. There was adequate wash rags and towels, and it had a microwave and a refrigerator which was nice. In all, the room was adequate and if I were going back again I would probably rebook this motel: it really wasn't all at that bad.

Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn, hotel in Rock Island

Located in Davenport, 8.4 miles from Fryxell Geology Museum, Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn provides accommodations with a fitness center, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

My wife and I recently spent three nights at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn in Davenport, Iowa during our vacation in the Quad Cities. We picked the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn in Davenport because it had good rates and was rated three stars or above. Despite some ongoing renovations, we were happy with our stay. Compared to similar hotels, it was much cheaper and offered decent value for money. We gave the hotel a five-star rating because we had a good experience overall. However, please note that we would classify it as a three-star hotel. The hotel has areas where it could improve, but we felt satisfied with our stay, especially considering the room cost us only $263. Our room had a very comfortable king-sized bed with plenty of pillows. It also had a microwave, mini-fridge, and a comfortable leather chair with an oversized ottoman. The mini-Keurig coffee station was a nice touch, and we appreciated the large shower dispenser for body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. The closet was spacious, and the desk was well-equipped with handy plugs. We would have preferred carpet instead of wood laminate flooring, but that’s just our personal preference. The lobby was clean and impressive, with an ATM, mini-store, and a large coffee station. The hotel also had a well-equipped fitness room and a beautiful, fully enclosed courtyard. The indoor atrium was enormous, and the swimming pool was small but comfortable. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was boarded over during our visit and was unusable. The hotel’s bar, 1 Hundred West, was fantastic. It had live music, great food, and amazing drinks. The bartenders, Matt and Anthony, were delightful and made our visit even better. The bar was immaculately clean and had a modern, sleek look. The person who checked us in was extremely pleasant and attentive. We didn't use room service, but it was available, along with wake-up calls, free Wi-Fi, and free amenities.

Rock Island is a very welcoming city located in western Illinois on the banks of the Mississippi River. There are many locally owned shops downtown - know as The District by locals. I found some GREAT deals too! A heads up though, if you do not drive, there will be transportation challenges. With a limited bus system and Lyft/Uber availability spotty at best, you will need to be prepared to do a lot of walking if here without a vehicle. Rock Island, originally Fort Armstrong, was built on the island in 1816 and was the headquarters of operations in the Black Hawk War (1832), in which Chief Black Hawk and his people were forced out of Illinois. Laid out in 1835 as Stephenson, the community was renamed Rock Island and incorporated as a town in 1841. I suggest if you want a break from your world you consider Rock Island, Illinois!

The best part about the entire experience was how nice the guy at the front desk was. I honestly wish I could give this location a glowing review simply because he was such a pleasure to interact with. He greeted me by name when I arrived and assured me that my family and I were safe there. He shared that he lived on the property, which DID help me feel at ease about the less than desirable location.

This is a great deal for the room! The staff was awesome, I had to turn around on my drive to the hotel and was not going to make it on time for check in, so they checked me in over the phone so I did not lose the reservation. The person at the front desk and on the phone were awesome, and the housekeeping staff was great too!

The room was comfortable. I really enjoyed the water pressure in the shower although the drain had some trouble. The comfortable bed was perfect. I usually don't eat at hotels, but since there were no nearby options I ate a sandwich from the deli and it was tasty but pricey.

we loved that there was an attached restaurant and a separate breakfast area. You could tell that the hotel was older and a little war in places but overall it was pretty nice.
